Armenian media outlets have reported that: ""According to my information, India has imposed a ban on the import of goods from Azerbaijan. This is a very wrong decision."  As reported by APA, this statement was made by Pakistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, during a press conference".

This news has also been circulated on several Azerbaijani-language social media pages.

Faktyoxla Lab. (FactChecking Lab.) decided to verify the accuracy of this information.

First, let's look at the statement by Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin. At the press conference he actually said: “I have not seen any decision by India to ban imports from Azerbaijan. That would be a very wrong step.”

Secondly, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a notice on May 2, 2025, which outlines a ban on goods imported from or transited through Pakistan, specifically those of Pakistani origin. There is no mention of Azerbaijan in the notice.

At the same time, calls are being spread on social media to cancel the trips of Indian citizens traveling to Azerbaijan and Türkiye as tourists and to "boycott" these countries. During our observations, we noted the involvement of individuals of Armenian descent among some of the most active users on these social media platforms.

It should be noted that in the ongoing information operation, Armenians are also referencing a post from an anti-national Azerbaijani page called "Hamam Times."

Conclusion:

- The information circulated by several Armenian websites and Azerbaijani-language pages supporting them, claiming that the Indian government has imposed a ban on imports from Azerbaijan, is false and does not reflect the truth.

- Armenia continues its cooperation with India in the information space by creating and spreading false narratives.
