The qualifying match of the European Football Championship 2024 between the national teams of Armenia and Turkiye, held on March 25 in Yerevan, ended with the victory of the Turkish team with a score of 2:1.
During the match, Armenian fans in the stands booed the Turkish national anthem, waved the flag of the so-called “NKR”, held nationalist banners in their hands. Among them, a banner with the inscription NEMESIS could be seen.
Faktyoxla Lab. has tried to figure out the meaning of the word NEMESIS.
Let's start with the fact that NEMESIS is like the goddess of revenge in ancient Greek mythology.
On December 16, 1918, the ARF “Dashnaktsutyun” passed a sentence on the leaders of the Young Turks and the leaders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Of the 31 "accused" three were sentenced to death.
The ARF Dashnaktsutyun founded the NEMESIS group to enforce the sentences. In 1919, at the 19th general congress of the Dashnaktsutyun in Yerevan, a list of 650 people was created (source). To carry out the NEMESIS operation, a responsible body was formed, headed by the representative of Armenia in the US Armen Garo, and a special fund headed by Shagan Sachaklian. A citizen of the Ottoman Empire, a native of Elazig, Shagan Natali and Grigor Merdzhanov, were responsible for providing operational leadership and material support for the operation.
The main goal of Shagan Natali was Talaat Pasha, who at one time held the post of Minister of the Interior. Soghomon Tehlirian was chosen for the role of the perpetrator of the assassination of Talaat Pasha. On March 15, 1921, Soghomon Tehlirian shot Talaat Pasha in Berlin and surrendered to the police. He was acquitted in court on the grounds that he was mentally ill.
We also learn from historical sources that:
- On December 5, 1921, Arshavir Shirakyan killed the head of the first cabinet of the Young Turks, Said Halim, in Rome.
- On April 17, 1922, Arshavir Shirakyan and Aram Yerkanyan killed Jemal Azmi and Behaeddin Shakir in Berlin.
- On July 22, 1922, Petros Ter-Poghosyan and Artashes Gevorkyan killed the former Minister of Naval Forces of Turkey, Jemal, in Tiflis.
- On May 31, 1920, the Azerbaijani statesman Nasib Yusifbeyli was killed.
- On June 19, 1920, Aram Yerkanyan assassinated the former Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Fatali Khan Khoyski.
- On July 19, 1920, Aram Yerkanyan killed Gasan Bek Agayev in Tiflis.
- On July 18, 1921, Misak Torlakian killed the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Behbud Khan Javanshir, in Istanbul. By the way, Misak Torlakian was released by a British court after it was announced that he could not be held responsible for his actions because he was mentally unstable.
It is also known that during the NEMESIS operation, Armenian terrorists killed such Armenian politicians as Vahe Ikhsan, Mkrtich Harutyunyan and Emayak Aramyants who disagreed with them.
In fact, the international nature of the NEMESIS operation, the release of terrorists with a far-fetched problem regarding their "mental imbalance", the calm attitude of the Germans and the British towards the trial of terrorists, the role of the Bolsheviks in the assassination of Jemal and Enver Pasha and the execution of blacklisted people such as General Secretary of the Unity and Progress Party, Dr. Nazim, and politician Ismail Kanbolat raise some questions.
The fact that the Dashnaks, who stubbornly fought the Bolsheviks in Armenia during the same period, failed to enlist the support of the West and were expelled from the country shows that it is not only their will that matters.
Experts emphasize that most of the people who organized and acted as militants in the NEMESIS operation settled in Western countries, especially in the US, and created strong institutions of the Armenian diaspora there. Later, when we look at the documents from the archive of Aharon Sachaklian, we will see the following: despite that Aharon Sachaklian worked for the newspaper 'Hayrenik', whose editor-in-chief was the mastermind behind NEMESIS, the Armenian terrorist Shagan Natali (Hakop der Hakobyan), no one knew he was involved in Operation NEMESIS. It was only by chance that his grandchildren, when examining his things in the attic, after his death, based on newspaper clippings and photographs of that period, learned that he was a terrorist (source).
In 2021, Armenia, contrary to international law, decided to erect a monument in memory of the assassins who killed Turkish and Azerbaijani statesmen during Operation NEMESIS.
The Council of Elders of Yerevan signed the scandalous decision at a meeting held on September 14, 2021. It was decided to open a monument to the Armenian terrorists who were participants in the NEMESIS operation. Mayor's adviser Kamo Areyan stated that the proposal to build the monument came from the grandchildren of the Armenian participants in the NEMESIS operation.
The decision to erect a monument to the members of the Armenian terrorist organization was unanimously adopted at the meeting. Areyan said: "The monument will be erected in honor of Aram Yerkanyan, Soghomon Tehlirian, Misak Torlakyan, Arshavir Shirakyan, Petros Ter-Poghosyan, Artaches Gevorgyan and Hakob Melkumov."
The names of some of the murderers of Turkish and Azerbaijani statesmen, from Soghomon Tehlirian, the murderer of Talat Pasha, to Aram Yerkanyan, the murderer of Bahattin Shakir and Fetali Khan Khoysky, the first Prime Minister of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, to Ashavir Shirakyan, the murderer of Sait Halim Pasha, will be carved on this monument.
Kamo Areyan, recalling that 101 years have passed since Aram Yerganyan's "first action" on June 19, 1920, defended the erection of the monument. (source)
In fact, this is not the first time this has happened. In 2019, Armenians erected a monument to Soghoman Tehlirian, who killed Talaat Pasha, in the Shirak region of Armenia. Under the foot of the statue was depicted the severed head of Talat Pasha. By insulting Talat Pasha and the Turks, the Armenians also prove their international crime against humanity. (source)
As can be seen,
- What happened in the Saturday match of the 2024 European Football Championship qualifier in Yerevan between the national teams of Armenia and Turkiye is the most important proof that the Armenians have never been wise,
- Raising a banner with the inscription NEMESIS is actually a sign that the Armenians are not ready for the process of normalizing relations between Turkiye and Armenia.
- At the same time, the banner with the inscription NEMESIS indicates that the Armenians are a nation prone to terrorism.
